Botanical info: 

Smallflower tamarisk is a shrub or tree growing up to about 5 meters tall. The branching twigs are covered in tiny linear leaves no more than 2 or 3 millimeters long. It grows naturally moist habitat, especially in saline soils. It is native to Mediterranean Basin. Flowering from May to August.  


Hippocratic legacy: 

    a. In Hemorrhoids:

        a. Smallflower tamarisk is recommended for the treatment of hemorrhoids in women. 

    b. In Diseases of Women 1: 

        a. It is recommended as birth stimulant. 

    c. In Diseases of Women 2:

        a. It is recommended against vulval excretions. 


Other uses:

Smallflower tamarisk is traditionally used for gastrointestinal disorders, wounds, diabetes, and dental problems. Phenolic acids, flavonoids, and tannins constitute the main phytochemicals of this plant. Preclinical pharmacological evaluations have demonstrated several biological activities for Smallflower tamarisk. including antidiabetic, hepatoprotective, wound healing, and anti-inflammatory; however, no clinical evidence have yet been provided to support the health benefits of this plant.
