Botanical info: 

Seseli is an herbaceous biennial growing from 0.1 to 0.75 m tall. Having no stem, the flowers and leaves rise directly from long, horizontal, runners. It grows naturally in wet positions in forest clearings, and roadsides. Its native to south Europe. Flowering from May to June.  


Hippocratic legacy: 

    a. In Diseases of Women 1 seseli is recommended: 

        a. For the stopping of milk secretion. 

        b. Against uterus oedema after/or because of birth. 


Other uses:

Traditionally, the fruits of seseli are used as emmenagogue and in digestive diseases. On the other hand, the essential oil of seseli proved to be effective against human pathogenic microorganisms. In Portugal it is usually used in traditional medicine suggesting therapeutic potential for fungal diseases involving mucosal, cutaneous, and respiratory tracts.
