(Roundhead bulrush)


Botanical info: 

Roundhead bulrush is a rhizomatous perennial herb growing to 0.75 m tall. It has a self-supporting growth form and simple, broad leaves. It  occurs naturally in damp dune-slacks and on adjacent low dunes.  It is native in Europe and the Mediterranean Basin. Flowering occurs in August and September, and only after a long hot summer do fruits containing viable seeds appear to form and ripen in quantity.

    a. In Nature of Women:

        a. Roundhead bulrush cane is used for the preparation of enemas.  

    b. In Diseases of Women 1: 

        a. Sweet smelling roundhead bulrush is suggested for the preparation of enemas. 

    c. In Diseases of Women 2 roundhead bulrush flowers:

        a. Are suggested for uterus purgative enemas. 

        b. Sweet smelling roundhead bulrush is recommended for uterus fumigation. 


Other uses:

The leaves and stems are used to make chair seats. Its leaves are used as a direct application remedy for toothache, colds, while it is also diuretic.
